I run Cleanup, Adaware, Spybot and AVG free on a regular basis. I also run APC Power Chute backup power supply. Computer is celeron 2.2 ghz and when new ran quite a bit faster than now. Takes some time to shut down. Please review register and make recommendations to get rid of extraneous items, etc.
Other info: I do run both "explorer" and "netscape". SpyBot always finds WildTangent which I no longer fix because one of the games my spouse enjoys requires WildTangent.
Thanks for any followup.

Hello chasb35 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. The only thing I see in the HijackThis log are a couple of search redirectors that can be fixed so let's do that.

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page =http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Other than that, the log looks good.

Shutdown times are affected by what hardware and software are installed on any system. Running processes must be closed down properly and depending on what system settings are enabled other various cleanup operations must be performed. Here is a link to an informative article describing various shutdown issues:

http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php

Further information can be obtained by posting a question in the Windows XP forum and following any guidance given there.

Cheers.
