When I try to open files like Media Player and stuff like that a box pops up and asks me what program I want to use to open them with. And when I try to adjust my volume or change a user account or something like that it tells me that the app. is not found. What do I do? Some stuff works normally, but most things i try to open give me these messages.

Joffy192, can you give a bit more background as to what happened before you were hit by this particular problem?

Download this file and doubleclick on it to run it. Allow the information to be merged with the registry.

Let me know if this fixes the issue

regards, Elise

okay thanks. I have ran Malwarebytes to take off a fake security thing and once it was done that is when all of these problems started.

To make sure everything is indeed fine, please re-run MBAM, update it first and run a scan. Please post me the log.

Now when I turn my computer on it won't even let me log on. a screen comes up that says, "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
