streaming divx with ubuntu

programs i have

firefox, google chrome, movie player(totem), mplayer media player, vlc media player.

ok so i tried streaming divx in both google chrome and firefox. the wepage shows the still pics but when i push play the video blacks out. what to do? also i went into each of my video players and tried to enter the website and play them directly through the players and that did not work either. any suggestions? if you need more info from me i'll gladly post it here. i've only been running linux for 2 months though so i may need steo by step help aquiring the info. thanks in advance

Download and install the codecs for the distribution. You may need to access the restricted sets.

ok i found this tight add-on its in german i think but it works nicely with firefox for streaming divx, buffers lets you play vid, its looks tight so far

You can use MediaTomb to stream videos, music and pictures to any UPnP compatible device like the PS3. This guide is for Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic
