Hi all,

First up, Thanks a million for keeping this site going! The FAQ and tutorials are amazing and have helped me numerous times! Fair play!

Now, Down to the problem at hand.

I was asked to 'fix' my bro-in-laws laptop which he said he thought 'might' have a virus! When i got it it was in some state, with a trial Version of Norton from 2008  and it was riddled with malware/spyware. And also the Dreaded 'Security Manager'!!

I finally got rid of Security manager. (booted safe mode, renamed and deleted) then scanned with malwarebites and then twice more with spybot S+D. Everything is coming up clean and im able to get back online! Hurrah!
Although im still getting redirected and i cannot register his copy of avast. i tried running gooredfix and it ran and fixed. However im still getting redirected!

So ive kinda hit a brick wall in terms of what to do next.

Any help Would be MUCH appreciated!

Also, ide never seen 'Security Manager' before, what a nasty piece of Software that was! Since i had to connect his laptop to my home network, should i be worried about cross infection? i shouldnt think so, but you never know?!
