hello all, i have been having problems with my pc running vista for a couple of months now and am not getting much joy from the shop i bought it from despite knowingly having paid over the odds for the machine in the misguided expectation that should anything go wrong i would be able to take it back to them and get help instead of always being offered clean re-install for which they want about $150 which is not much significantly less than the machine is worth!?!?!
Hopefully there are some people having the same problems as me and some remedies to them.

Check out the topics in the Vista Forum, or create one of your own to ask a question or for help with a particular problem. In most cases, and while a reinstall will fix just about anything, there is no need because there is another solution that you yourself can do that won't cost 150 dollars.

hi guys and thanks for the welcome posts. i ended up doing a clean re-install myself which has been a mission as i had to find and install many drivers as well as re-install all my necessary applications as well as a major job of installing about 100 windows updates. i also stripped the startup programs almost bare naked and guess what? the machine is running like lightning again and boots up in under 2 minutes instead of the 20 that is was before!!
