Hello,

I have run Spybot for over a year and have had no problems. I check every day for new detection rules so I can keep up to date. When I checked for new updates a couple of days ago It showed there was a new download available.

When I try to download, it will go through the process of downloading and when it is finished all I have is !!checksum!! I take it that for some reason the download will not install. Can anyone advise me as to whats going on.

Thank You,

Dennis

Have you tried to download it from a different location?

When updating, why do I get an error message that the "update is forbidden" / "bad checksum!!!"?

Howdy tg1911,

Thank you for your reply. I just tried again. I can not find a Menu bar ??? in order to use a different location.

( If you try again, have a second look at the menu bar.)

Dennis

When you click the search for updates option, next to it you will see a server listed it will say either See-cure, safer networking#1, safer networking#2, securitywonks.org, securitywonks.net and EON. If you click on the little triangle pointing downwards you can change the server.

I have also had troubles finding the dropdown arrow to select a different server to download updates from. I am using version 1.4. Although I did finally get through yesterday to get my updates.

I, too, have had this problem from time to time.

All I do is shutdown Spybot and then restart it.

Things are usually normal and I can complete the download.
