Hey I was just going through some sites about breaking up and checking out their lists of breakup songs. There isn't one GOOD list out there, it's all spread out so I was wondering if anyone had any input - a list of songs that you think are really great empowering breakup songs, not that sad sappy stuff...that just makes everyone feel worse
Anyway I'm going through a bad breakup and I find that music helps the healing process.
Help me out here.

Thanx

These may or may not help you. But at one time they helped me a lot.

Inside Out
By: Eve 6

"I would swallow my pride
I would choke on the rinds
but the lack thereof would leave me empty inside,
swallow my doubt
turn it inside out
find nothing but faith in nothing
want to put my tender heart in a blender
watch it spin around to a beautiful oblivion
rendezvous, then I'm through with you

Everything About You
By: Ugly Kid Joe

I, hate the rain and sunny weather,
And i, hate the beach and mountains too;
(and) I donít like a thing about the city, no, no
And i, i, i, hate the countryside too!

Semi-chorus
And i, hate everything about you!
... everything about you!

These are sorta old. But in has been a long time since I went through a breakup.

This is a good one! This is one of my favorite country songs!
This is by Brad Paisley...

Well I love her
But I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon

Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
That I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

I'm sorry, I just always try to cheer people up.

When I was born, I was so surprised I didn't talk for a year and a half!!!

Always loved The Eagles.

Already Gone

Well, I heard some people talkin' just the other day
And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf
But let me tell you I got some news for you
And you'll soon find out it's true
And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself
'Cause I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo
The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why
But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the light (that's right)
And I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song, woo, hoo,hoo,woo, hoo,hoo
Well I know it wasn't you who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key
But me, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
And I'm feelin' strong
I will sing this vict'ry song
'Cause I'm already gone
Yes, I'm already gone
Already gone
All right, nighty-night

Turn that one up. That'll rock your socks.

Not to be corny or anything but "Cry Me a River" by Justin Timberlake...that's a great song.

How about "She %^$@#* Hates Me" by Puddle of Mud? lol That song cracks me up. It's got a good beat to it.. even if it is a break up song.

It's sad when a break up happens. Been a LOT of years since I cried over a break up. Sorry you have to go thru it.

Since You Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson

Here's the thing
We started out friends
It was cool, but it was all pretend
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
Dedicated, you took the time
Wasn't long till I called you mine
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
And all you'd ever hear me say
Is how I picture me with you
That's all you'd ever hear me say

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you, now I get what I want
Since you been gone

How can I put it, you put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
How come I'd never hear you say
I just wanna be with you
Guess you never felt that way

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah, yeah
Thanks to you, now I get, I get what I want
Since you been gone

You had your chance, you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth, I just can't take it
Again and again and again and again

Since you been gone (since you been gone)
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get, I get what I want
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so movin' on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get (I get)
You should know (you should know) that I get
I get what I want

Since you been gone
Since you been gone
Since you been gone

Trust me, once you see the music video you'll get it.

Hmmm, Lisa Marie Presly has some very interesting lyrics: "Idiot" seems a bit harsh, but some breakups are harsh.

Excerpt:
Please remember me
Forever believe in me
As someone whose never gonna wish you well

I’m gonna tell you what I think about you in that unforgivable way I do
You’re an idiot
And I hate your guts
I guess I’m about as happy for you as I would be a cockroach in my food
I know it’s terrible I really hate you though

Check out all her lyrics. http://www.lisapresley.com/music_home.html

Ok Technical, this may sound corny but Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees is a funky empowering song. I swear, I always feel better after listening to it. (I also want to get up and start boogying when I hear it but that's just me) There is just something about that song that kicks ass. (pretend you're John Travolta walking down the street and you're not going take crap from anyone!)

Breakups suck, I broke up with my ex about a year ago and it still stings sometimes when I think about it. Hope you feel better soon. Hang in there. *hugs*

Thank you all for your replies and concerns; very much appreciated.

ps. Nikita, if Stayin' Alive does it for you, it's all good
