external monitor

i have a sony viao the monitor appears to have fried up , but the computer turns on , to a black screen. i also have a fully functional hp dv6 and wanted to know if i cud hook up my sony viao to my dv 6 and see the stuff on the viao computer.. what cable do i need if any??

Unless you have an all-in-one (I know Sony make some of these), you'll need either a VGA, DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort (warning: all link to fairly large images of ports) cable.

If you do have an AIO, I don't think you can use it as an external monitor, sorry :thumbsup:
