Hello All...Thank you for your help. I have an issue that seems to be getting worse. My wife asked me to look at the computer because it was slow and locking up. I put Spyware Doctor on since I have an account. The program did not seem to find anything that was High Threat, but the computer got a little worse after I ran the program. When the computer locks up and we have to restart, the wireless modem needs to be unplugged and plugged back in so that the computer can find it again. I found you guys through HijackThis, which I had downloaded and ran. The HijackThis scan showed that 12 different C:\WINDOWS\system32\svhost.exe processes were running. I don't know if this is normal, but it seemed strange so I went to your site.

I followed your tutorial and created the files you requested. However, the GMER scan was problematic. It locked up several times. It also seemed to get caught in a loop during the scan. I had to reboot the computer on at least three attempts when the computer would freeze up. I eventually just started the scan, let it run for around 1 minute, stopped the scan, and saved the file quickly. The information gained in that minute did not change from the information gained in other scans that lasted an hour, so hopefully that was everything.

Here's a copy of the DDS file that was created yesterday:

svchost is a prolific process and it is not unusual for it to be running many, many times simultaneously.

Please run Autoruns when using the PC at the time when svchost is very active in Task Manager.

Download Autoruns

http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autoruns.zip
  1. Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
  2. Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
  3. Click on the "Everything" tab
  4. Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
  5. Go to File then to Export As.
  6. Save AutoRuns.txt file to the desktop.
  7. Attach to your next reply.

Please also run this program to eliminate a possible rootkit too.

Download and run HAMeb_check.exe

Post the contents of the resulting log.

Thanks thumbup2.gif

Nothing showing there. We'll try another process checker.

Please download and run Process Explorer

If Process explorer won't execute rename it Iexplore.exe

Under File and Save As, create a log and post here

Copy and paste the log into your next reply

Hi,

I have not had a reply from you for 3 days. Can you please tell me if you still need help with your computer as I am unable to help other members with their problems while I have your topic still open. The time taken between posts can also change the situation with your PC making it more difficult to help you.

If you like you can PM me.

Thanks,
