some people post and are immediately assisted, some take 3 days to be helped. Is there a way to get assistance more quickly?

Partly it depends on what assistance you need.

Those posting HJT logs usually have to wait a little longer because the trained volunteers answer those in the order they come in, but the number of responders is significantly more limited than for instance, those on this forum because the HJT experts must be fully trained and qualified to analyze HJT logs and assist you in registry modification or other actions that will be necessary.

What problem are you having?

If you posted a HJT log following the directions for posting the log, please be patient and an expert in the use of HJT will assist you as soon as possible.

Bear in mind that everyone helping around BC is a volunteer who gives some spare time to help others. In some cases, where posts are very specific to an uncommon problem, or about a non-popular application, not everyone is qualified to help, and one is dependent on someone with that kind of specialised expertise viewing the post.
In the case of HJT logs, these are taken on a first posted, first helped basis, and there may be many others ahead of you.
Regards,
John

All I can add is, be patient, it's always worth waiting for an expert response, on some forums you can have tried 3 or 4 "this might help" answers before finding you've caused even more problems than when you started. I have not been on here long but it seems better than most.

The only thing that I'll add is that some of us have a lot more time to devote to trying to help others...than many persons who work, travel, etc.

And, AFAIK, there is no one who is an "expert" or who has experienced every kind of computer situation which crops up on this or any other forum.

I (as a forum member, not as an "expert") try to shy away from topics where I don't know A from Z...or cannot readily use Google to get a clue.

I suspect that others may work in a similar manner.

I quote from the pinned instruction post in the HJT forum:

A lot of the experts who will be helping you do so by searching for unanswered posts. Therefore if you post a log and get impatient and post a reply to your existing log, you will not show up in this search and thus your help may be delayed. Due to this we ask that you hold back from replying to your own topic in the hopes that we will see it quicker.

You have bumped your log twice, so it may have gotten lost.

Another moderator, who is faster than am I, has deleted the bumps so your log will show as open and unworked.

John

Dear dustee

some people post and are immediately assisted, some take 3 days to be helped.  Is there a way to get assistance more quickly?

Answer: Do not bump.

Since as far back as June, you have been made aware of the protocol and procedures of the entire Highjack This log process, on several occasions.
Yet you and now your Mother still post "bumps"
There are a total of four bumps here:Something is So Wrong...Please help, Virus maybe?

Edit: I will remove the "bumps" from your Mothers log. Please refrain from any "bumping" in the future.

One must wait thier turn. Plain and simple.

You post this topic, even though you are fully aware of the time it may take for your log to be read. Bleeping computers Highjack This team are volunteer's, who graciously devote thier free time helping other's.
The help here at Bleeping Computer is free, so one must have patience.

Your log will be taken care of in the order it was posted. Any "bumps" move you further down the list. Which is excactly why your Mother's log has not been responded to.

I fail to understand why you bothered to post this topic. If you had no intentions of listening to what you were told. You are wasting everyone's time , including your own.

If you notice the member jgweed, who has patiently replied to this topic is a Bleeping Computer Moderator.
You can take his word on any subject. Please feel free to go over his above posts again. He has explained things quite clearly.

One final thought. There is a pinned topic, to where members can post if thier log
has been sitting for five days without a response. Please keep in mind, do not post here untill, you have waited for five days.

Haven't had a reply in five days?, Post your link

Sincerly.
