Reading about ComboFix you are told not to use without a trained helper. How does one become a trained helper? I have recently been tasked with IT responsibilities for the very small business I work for. Only 13 computers here, but the biggest problem I see is Malware. Searching for tools I came across ComboFix and would really like to become knowledgeable on how to use it effectively. I am knowledgeable on computers, registry components somewhat etc.

Tks,
Rob

Hello Moggus

Please read the pinned topic ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look here.

In order to receive instruction on how to use this tool, you will have to renroll in one of the various online Unite Schools (which includes this site) and complete a vigorous training program. If you are interested in doing that, please let me know and I will PM the information to you.

Better get your name on the list soon because the wait can be quite long. I have been in this business for a few years and have not found a class opening yet. Its a lot of overhead to have to wait for replies to forum posts when repairing customers' computers so I rarely use ComboFix. I suppose the training is worth it though because I have been surprised by ComboFix a few times when it quarantined perfectly good application files.

Good luck with your new job Moggus.

Thanks for the information guys. I'll get on the list and see what happens. I've been pretty lucky so far in removing the malware I've come up against, but it's a never ending job. Don't know if I'm missing things or they just keep coming. Trying to talk this company from switching from Trend Micro to a better anti-virus with malware prevention but they resist. Major problem is that computers here are very old and slow. I don't think they could handle the newer virus programs...
