Hi all! I was desperate looking for a solution for a problem I just got in my external hard drive when I found your forum; I hope you can help me out!
Today a colleague from work plugged my HD to a laptop that had just been formatted to install a couple of programs I had the installation files for; everything went smoothly but when I plugged the HD back in my laptop all the folders except the one he used had been transformed into exe files. Immediately Microsoft Security Essentials detected a trojan virus called Agent.bypass.gen!k and it managed to quarantine the files, so the infection didn't actuallt spread to my computer, but it didn't recover any of the exe files back into normal folders. The files weren't lost since the capacity of the disk is exactly the same as it was before. My question is if I should have any hope of recovering my files and, if so, how can I do it. What I find awkward about it is that I couldn't find any one with the same problem; actually the most recent information I could find about this virus was from January 2009! If there is anything else I can tell you to help you help me say so. Thanks in advance!
