Blue Screen windows shut down in xp

3rd time this has happened got blue screen shutting down windows with following messages:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
TECH INFO: STPO: 0X000000D1 (0X00000038, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XF3DC257F)
bckd.sys - address F3DC257 base at F3DB7000, datestamp 496d225dd

SP3 pack automatically installed by windows. Any help aprreciated. Thanks

Hi :thumbsup:.

What is the installed AV program?

D1 STOP errors are often driver issues.

I suggest uninstalling Blue Coat K9 Web Protection (because it's probably damaged) and then reinstalling it.

If you are not using the above program...then you need to consider the possiblility of malware.

HI LOUIS AV PROGRAM IS AVG JUST RECENTLY INSTALLED. I AM REMOVING K9 PROGRAM AS WE SPEAK. WILL LET YOU KNOW IF THAT WORKS.

Louis do you think I should uninstall AVG and re-install? Also does SP3 cause any driver issues Windows also recently installed SP3 automatically. Thanks for your help.

I would not, unless I have some indication that AVG is causing problems.

Not that I'm aware of...it's more likely that drivers issues may prevent SP3 from installing properly.

Thanks for your help Louis. Have removed K9 and have not had any problems in last few hours. Will update if there is any change.
