A Non-Microsoft program claiming to be an internet security company is claiming I am infected and asking me to register for the full version of their software. I am getting Pop ups on the menu bar showing "System Danger," "Privacy Threat," etc.

I briefly went to the registration site and it is not Microsoft. It has completely taken over Windows explorer. When I attempt to open Explorer I get a window saying XP Internet Security has blocked a program from accessing the internet. - they block explorer. It is giving me the option to activate XP Internet Security. I recognize this as Malware or worse and do not know what to do about it.

I am sending this after opening firefox and it works fine.

I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
I am using an up to date version of McAfee for firewall and anti virus. I have run a complete system scan with McAfee and found nothing. My next step is to wipe the hard drive and reinstall. I have an online backup service and can do that, but would prefer to remove this if possible. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
