Hi, ive recently changed ram on my windows vista from 4 gb to 2gb. the 2 gb ram manufacturer is the same as the 4, and the same amount of ram sections.

4gb - hymen - 4 by 1gb
2gb - hymen - 4 by 512 mb

the problem is, after i changed it i get a beeping sound (1 short 1 long). i did some research and read that it means that i should reseat my ram and reboot. i did that but i still have the same problem.

i have a windows vista and when i start the computer up, the screen is just blank, no error messages

any help is appreciated, thanks

sounds like it could be a bad ram stick. I would try each ram stick individually and see what happens.
