I have an x86 based laptop and i have an issue now. I am not able to view DVD movies on my laptop.
But I am able to browse DVD data discs.
When I try to play movies, it says I have to change the monitor resolution to lower ones or I have to reduce my system colors.

I have not changed any settings manually and this happened all of a sudden.
can anyone suggest a solution to this.

If you can read dvd data disks then the drive is working. What program are you using to watch dvds. Some programs come with codec to translate the video, while others like Windows Media Player do not.
