Background: My daughter's new computer got infected. The virus is security tool.
It sets up in the middle third of the screen.
I have looked at and attempted the instructions on this site for removal but...
when I use the tip of start, type %UserProfile%\desktop to be able to get the program to "work" ie it brings up a small screen asking if i will allow it to run. It opens the small black window for a second. I have done this 3-4 times. The security tool screen is still in the center--is it supposed to be there?
I downloaded MBAM from a flash drive, renamed it, and tried to install it. A little bluish circle appeared and disappeared.
Than I used the userprofile window to try to install it, bluish circle and nothing. I guess any screen asking for approval/or where to put it are hidden behind the security tools screen. Even with the window showing the desktop I can't add folders or rename them on the c drive.
What am I not doing correctly?
I am not familiar with windows after win95. I use a mac.

I left the userprofile windoww up and shut the computer down. Win would not shutdown until the 2 windows were cleared, but security tool shut down. This allowed me to install Malwarebytes program and execute it. the rest of the procedure for finishing up and replacing the host file worked perfectly. Success Thank you

Hello, I was just posting to you ..when you replied.
Please post the MBAM scan log.

The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
