this is like the 5th time i've formatted in a year. i realized that each time i'd install norton, all it would do is let me know i had a virus but always say it couldn't clean it.

now i have another virus... every hour or so i get a pop-up warning from norton telling me i'm infected but that it can't clean. i usually go to quarantine and just delete the file... am i not supposed to do that?? well this time i didn't. here's the info:

filename: TFTP3124
virus name: W32.Spybot.Worm
location: C:\windows\system32

can i get some help?

If you think you are infected submit a hijackthis log here.

How to submit a hijackthis log

Download Hijackthis

Try running the following from safe mode (Getting to safe-mode) Sysclean you'll also need the virus template file from here lpt***.zip

DrWeb CureIT

If your good with the command line also try Sophos Command Line scanner

Also try installing and running A2 Free and Ewido

I'd also run Spybot and Adaware

If your using Win2K/XP run adaware/spybot from "safe mode with command prompt"

At the C:\ prompt type the following:-

C:\progra~1\spybot~1\spybotsd.exe /autocheck /autofix
