Anti Virus 2010 won't let me update MBAM

When I hit update MBAM, a box pops up saying he program will exit and install the latest version, so I click OK.

Then another window pops up that says something like "AV*32 is not responding" with a "Close Program" button. It does this every time.

"Av*32" is the process name for Anti Virus 2010 in my Task Manager, it's the process I choose to end to turn Anti Virus 2010 windows off.
