Windows Vista Home. Outlook Express.

Today I did a stupid thing and deleted some e-mails that I needed to save. I did a search for a programme to retrieve them. Loads of them "free" until you download and then they want money (why can't they be up front).
Is there a way that I can retrieve these e-mails, please.

Thank you,
George.

First and foremost
Shut off the computer and do not use it until you are ready to try and retrieve the emails
The less you overwrite them the better
The two programs a lot of people here use with some success
PC Inspector:

Recuva:
http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Thank you for your quick reply.
I have downloaded pcinspector but how do I use it? The help file says absolutely nothing and the home page is in german.

George.

Mark,

I have tried recuva and it appears to have worked. the only problem is that it all appears to be gobbledegook - all letters, numbers and symbols. Where can I go from here, please?

George.

Mail programs usually have restore or undelete options, I would try those.

Usually with the deleted items folder open under tools or file in the menu.

I cannot find a Restore or Undelete option or anything that remotely resembles that. Is there any chance that you could be more specific, please.

George.

Are the items still in your deleted items folder?

No. This is why I am trying to retrieve them. As I put in a previous post, I have retrieved them using Recuva, as suggested by Garmanma, but to me they are gobbledegook - just letters, numbers and symbols.
