I am unable to access secure sites on the internet. I need to find out what I can do to remedy this

This may happen if your root certificates are outdated.
If you are using Internet Explorer 5.5 that came originally with Windows 2000, then root certificates are possibly out of date.
You should install latest browser like Mozilla Firefox and install latest root certificates .
