I purchased a new laptop last night and am having the problem that I cannot access certain pages on IE or FF. This is including the Java and Adobe websites. On FF it states: Unable to Connect. IE states: Oops! This link appears to be broken!

This is an Emachines laptop and is running Windows 7 with Norton Internet Security that it came with.

Can anyone help with this?

I suspect, Norton may be at fault here.
See, if you have same problem in Safe Mode with Networking.

You're right. It is Norton. How can I fix it? Is uninstalling my only option?

Thanks!

Uninstall it, using Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgen...005033108162039

Download and install something better:

- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira..._antivirus.html
- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

- free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
NOTE. During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product.

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use Comodo firewall..
If you decide to install Comodo Internet Security, or just Comodo firewall, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.

With Comodo I'm getting the error: Error 109: Not able to extract InCompatSw.ini

Any suggestions there?

Is it 32-bit, or 64-bit system?
