when trying to use the search option from the explorer or from the start menu, after typing the search keyword, choosing "Search" an empty message box with the title "Search Companion" is delivered.

using an admin account.
tried safe mode, new user, spyware doctor, spysweeper, spybot...

cant remember since when I got this problem but its for a long time, I don't really use the search option much, just need it now.

thank you for your time.

Hi came across this same trouble once before the way i found to do it was, load and run windows xp disc, follow instructions and when it comes to upgrade(recommended) press enter or ok.
Follow rest of instructions which should take about 51 mins, at the end you should find your files and folders and everything in tact the only thing i had to redo was reinstall all the updates.

Hope this helps you.
Now installed Microsoft Security Essencials on my Tower with Windows Home Premium 32bit and Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop with Windows Home Premium 64bit
