Frequent lack of response from explorer.exe

Hi,

I have a problem with my Windows 7. As the name of the topic suggests, exporer.exe stops responding from time to time, I don't really see any paatern there (frequency of non-response periods), rebooting the process with task manager usually helps.

I thought there were some worms or trojans installed, but I scanned my PC with KIS 2010, Trojan Remover and sfc.exe and nothing appears to be out of order.

PS> I should also add that explorer.exe eats half of my CPU resources. I have Q6600 and 4 GB DDR2, GTX 285 GDDR3 1GB and it wasn't like that before. PC is virtually idle and 100% of CPU are used.

Hi again,

Since I don't want you to be unnecessarily occupied with this I thought I would let you know that I kind of solved this problem.

By solving I mean formatting system partition and reinstalling Win 7. It seemed like there weren't any other way at the moment or I just didn't have enough patience. smile.gif

I have only lost some saved games, but I guess that's good since I won't be playing time-consuming video games for some time.


Still.. If you see something striking in the log above, please let me know.

Hi,

thanks for letting us know. Nothing seems to be particularly out of order in your Hijackthis log. However please be advised that today only a minority of the malware can be detected by running Hijackthis and therefore a clean Hijackthis log doesn't necessarily mean that you weren't infected.
