When I try to go online, my modem dials up and connects with my server. My ISP says that I'm connected on their end. All that comes up in the window is the plain white page that is titled "The Page cannot be diplayed" if I try to type in an address directly into the address bar I get a box with the message "Internet Explorer Could Not Open the Search Page"

Just another question, Why the HE** to people sit around and figure out ways to infect other people's computers like this?? If they would only put their apparent talents to good use. Just my .02

Here's my HJT log

Hi mpd710

Please put HJT in it's own folder ....unless you named the folder "unzipped"

Here's how to make a permanent folder:
Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

Next, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall NaviSearch
please read info
http://www.cashbackbuddy.com/terms_bb.php

Now rescan with HJT, close all browser/explorer windows, check these items, then click "fix Checked":

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {18EAF0A9-A029-03D9-4FED-3A2372D567E1} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Welcome] C:\WINDOWS\Welcome.exe /R

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NaviSearch] C:\Program Files\NaviSearch\bin\nls.exe

O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSOFFICE.EXE
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE

Optional but recommended as they are resource hogs. You can start them manually when needed

O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Reboot into safe mode:
Restart the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Enable the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Find and delete:

C:\WINDOWS\Welcome.exe <---File
C:\Program Files\NaviSearch\

Reboot into normal mode....go into Internet Options - General tab. Delete temporary internet files, and choose to delete all Offline content. Also, go to Start - Find - Files or folders - in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit - select all - File - delete. Empty the contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. Empty Recycle bin, clear history and cookies.
