My computer (Windows XP) has been infected with XP guardian malware. I have run malwarebytes many times but it says there are no infected files and Super Anti Spyware continually froze at the same point in the scanning process. I tried to delete and reinstall Super but it says I don't have it completely uninstalled so I can't reinstall. Furthermore, every time i try to start the computer I get a BSOD and can only log in in safe mode. Other then this the only problem seems to be that when I click on results in search engines they are sometimes redirected to another site.
The stop code on the blue screen is: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF7BB647C, 0xF7BB6178, 0x86E6E69889)

Thanks in advance for any help!

didn't mean this as a bump. I just saw a request for a DDS log in someone else's post regarding the redirect virus, and I figured I would add it since Malware Bytes and the Malicious Software Removal Tool aren't giving me anything useful.

The Stop error seems to indicate you are having problems with the NT File System.

First step.

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • Extract its contents to your desktop and make sure TDSSKiller.exe (the contents of the zipped file) is on the Desktop itself, not within a folder on the desktop.
  • Go to Start > Run (Or you can hold down your Windows key and press R) and copy and paste the following into the text field. (make sure you include the quote marks) Then press OK. (If Vista, click on the Vista Orb and copy and paste the following into the Search field. (make sure you include the quotation marks) Then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.)

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -l C:\TDSSKiller.txt -v

  • If it says "Hidden service detected" DO NOT type anything in. Just press Enter on your keyboard to not do anything to the file.
  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Allow it to do so.
  • When it is done, a log file should be created on your C: drive called "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
Second Step.

Run chkdsk:

To use Chkdsk, click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so be patient.

No request for help throughout private messaging will be attended.
