I removed a part of the virus but i still cant get on the internet. I can only get on the internet in safe mode on the administrative account. Here is the log from hijackthis. I ran this log while in safe mode.


I already ran combofix but still am having the same problem. Here is the hijackthis log. The problem im having is i cant connect to the internet only in safe mode on the administrators account.

I have ran combofix, sdfix and hijackthis. I will post the logs. The problem im having is that i can get on in the internet in safe mode on the administrators account but on another account in safe mode im not able to access the internet. Thanks in advance.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

Ok so heres what happened. The computer had a fake anti virus if i remember right it had the green shield with a checkmark. Just like the windows update shield. So i ran combofix and it wiped it out. I then tried to connect to the internet and it wouldnt work. So i ran sdfix, which didnt find anything. I ran superanti spyware and malwarebytes and they both didnt find anything. So the only time i can connect to the internet is in safemode on the admin account. Hi joeyk_1415,

Welcome to Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal (VTSMR) forum. I am going to assist you with your problem.

Please refrain from making any changes to your system (scanning or running other tools, updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might interfere with our fixes. Please let me know in your next reply if you agree with this.

Please follow the instruction carefully. The batch file should be run when your are logging in normal mode with your usual account.
  1. In any mode you have access to internet please run Notepad (start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad) and copy and paste the text in the code box (without the word CODE) into a new file:

    Reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyEnable /f
    Reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v ProxyServer /f
    proxycfg -d

    • Go to the File menu at the top of the Notepad and select Save as.
    • Select Save in: C: drive
    • Fill in File name: look.bat
    • Save as type: All file types (*.*)
    • Click save.
    • Close the Notepad.

  2. Important: Log in with your usual account to normal mode.
    • Open C drive and locate loo.bat on the drive. It should look like this:
    • Double-click to run it.
    • A window flashes, this is normal.

  3. Now try internet explorer and give me feedback about it. Also run DDS and post a fresh DDS.txt to your reply. No need for the Attach.txt
