I have been using spybot on a daily basis. One certain entry shows up every time I run the scan, but it never seems to fix it, and I receive pop-ups from this constantly. I also get Internet Explorer pop-ups on a regular basis. I have cable hook up, and it seems that it runs slower every day. It has changed my favorites, my home page, and icons show up on my desktop that I did not put there. I also run Adaware on a daily basis, which comes up with at least 80 criticals a day. Oh, the listing on spybot is AbetterInternet, and AbetterInternet.Aurora. The pop-ups I get are from Aurora. Please offer any suggestions, as this is really annoying, and I am ready to crush my puter!! Thanks

P.S. Sorry, I also get these "registry change" windows from spybot- what are they, and what do they do? I have tried to look it up on the help menu, but find nothing about this.

DSRFix by Atribune et al for all OS.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad . Make sure to work through the steps in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fix.
  • Download DSRFIX from HERE onto your Desktop.
    • Unzip and EXTRACT the files to your Desktop.
    • The program creates and names the new folder to house the files.
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • Download Cleanup from Here (Alternate site if the above is not working Go Here)
    • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    • Click OK
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • CLOSE INTERNET EXPLORER, if it is open

  • Open the folder dsrfix
    • Double click on the dsrfix batch file( the one with the little gear in it )
    • Once dsrfix has completed it will close on its own
  • Run Cleanup
    • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
    • Once its done, close the program.
  • REBOOT your system.

  • Please restart HJT and post back a fresh HJT log for review.

Sorry for some reason I did not receive a notification that you replied.

Ok, let's get started. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Download and install ewido security suite. Update the program and then close it. Do not run it yet.

Step #2

Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document:

@ECHO OFF
process -k explorer.exe
cd %windir%
Nail.exe /fullremove
sc config SvcProc start= disabled
sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc
attrib -s -r -h nail.exe
attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe
del nail.exe
del svcproc.exe
cd %windir%\system32
attrib -s -r -h DrPMon.dll
del DrPMon.dll
start explorer.exe
exit

Save the document to your desktop as fixnail.bat and close Notepad.

Step #3

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #4

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
