Hi, thanks to this forum I've almost beaten Vundo. The machine I'm working on wasn't badly infected. But now that it's clean, there is a lingering symptom: every .exe (except for IE) will pop up an "open with" dialog and not actually run the program. This includes regedit, malwarebytes, etc. I can run things in safe mode.

I found (when fixing another computer with Vundo) an obscure registry key that invokes a .dll every time any .exe is run. I have a feeling that the .dll is clean, but with the key in place windows doesn't know what dll to run and so is asking. I'm not sure about that one; in any case, I can't find the reference to that key to check. It isn't a standard key, I know that much. Something probably from the early days of Windows whose only use is for Malware

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
