So far I have used System Restore, to see if the updates that were installed last Tuesday were the culprit, that didn't work. Then I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player using by way of the control panel, then reinstalled it, no luck there. I used the uninstaller that Adobe provides (just in case I missed any files from the previous attempt) and then reinstalled it, another failure. I reinstalled Java, no help forthcoming from that direction.
I now tried Firefox instead of IE8. Its a lot faster for sure, but that didn't help.
