I remember months ago I plugged in my Microsoft Media Center Edition IR Remote and it worked fine. (This was using Windows 7.)

I just did it today and I cannot get it working! The light on the IR receiver flashes when I press a button on the remote, but there is no response from the computer. I'm using Windows Media Center (which comes with Windows 7)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried the obvious like replacing the batteries and rebooting the computer? Those would be the first things to check....

I've tried rebooting the computer. The batteries are fine, as the receiver lights up when I press a button on the remote.

Then I have no idea. You might try updating the drivers for the receiver or something. Other than that, I don't really know what else to try besides calling customer service. Sorry.

Best of luck to you.

Did you run install software for the remote - if so have you tried re-installing.
Try unplugging the receiver, rebooting then plug in the receiver.

I have installed no software - last time it was not required. I have also tried uninstalling from device manager, rebooting, then reinstalling.

Is the receiver connected through USB?
If so have you removed it, rebooted and then reconnected?
What tuner are you using if any?

Yes, it's connected via USB. I have removed it, uninstalled, rebooted... still nothing.

I'm not using a tuner.
