What I mean by "freezes" is that the mouse becomes an hour glass and you cannot click on anything in the same window. The Recycle Bin works fine under Safemode but not under Normal mode. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

Victor

Hrm ok, you have alot of antivirus/anti spyware programs...i would recommend only haveing one but thats not important.

Have you tried going to command prompt and doing "chkdsk /r" yet?

Thanks again for the reply. I'll run that command and let you know of the results. Victor.

Tingnome thanks for the help. What I did was I ran the hard drive diagnostic utility called PowerMax and it said that the drive contained no errors. The drive was certified error free.

Did you still need for me to run chkdsk ?

Victor

What version of Windows are you running Victor43?

You might try this:
Open a command prompt window
Type cd recycled
Type attrib -h inf*
Type del info
Reboot

If that doesnt work try this:
Restart to a command prompt.
Type attrib -s -h recycled.
Type del recycled.
Reboot
In the beginning there was the command line.

If the recycle bin is damaged somehow that should recreate it
In the beginning there was the command line.

Well guess what everyone ? The Recycle Bin is working fine once again. All I did was to let the freezing continue until it was no longer hanging and then closed the window. Then tried reopening the Recycle Bin and this time it opened much quicker. I should mention that awhile back I had run Powermax in which it found errors on the drive but corrected the same errors. I am not sure if it was related to the Recycle Bin maybe you guys might know better.

But in all thanks to both posters for their help. It was much appreciated.

Victor.
