Sims2 crashes...

I installed the Sims 2, no problem. I try to play the game, it crashes just after the part where it says across the bottom (before you reach the neighborhood screen) "De-inviting Don Lothario"... The screen returns to the desktop, the game freezes, and this is the error message I get...

Yeah. I can't figure out what to do, please help, someone? :thumbsup:

(please keep in mind I have almost zero knowledge of technical terms and may need some explaining if you use them)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Sims 2 have a reputation for being extremely unstable? I never got it working on my laptop, it just froze on the main menu.
