Can someone tell me which programs are really nessasary and which ones I can delete.Plus if I set my computer back to factory settings will I require a windows xp pro install cd for a destructive recovery?

System manufacturer and model?

Why would you want to do a recovery/restore, using the disks supplied by your system manufacturer?

I have a compaq presario 5000.It was given to me by a friend who got it from someone else.It didn't come with disks of any kind.I'm trying to clear up space so it runs faster.

From what I see...there's not a lot you can do without disks of some sort...but take a look at Restoring Compaq System.
