I need to know the difference between spyware and malware. The reason i ask is - recently when i run an Adaware scan it shows the following item -- name - favoriteman, type- file, catagory - malware. i quarantine it and delete it but it keeps coming back. is there something else i need to do to keep my computer secure, or is this harmless? i have seen spyware in the past but not malware.

hopefully others can benefit from this post also. thank you, Keith

Edit: I can't take the easy way out because some people might not take the time to check the links:

Adware is software that displays ads on your computer.

Malware is short for Malicious Software, this is software which is designed to damage or disrupt your system.

Spyware is software that keeps track of what you are doing and attempts to gain access to confidential information such as passwords, bank accounts and so on.
