Looking for the best app to use to mirror a new clean XP SP3 installation from one internal HD to another. I just spent a day getting my new drive installed with all of the updates and apps I run. I would love to mirror the entire drive (files & OS) to make future recovery easier.

Any suggestions for freeware or otherwise. Thanks ~ Darryl

Acronis True Image: http://www.acronis.com/ - not free, but the best

Free alternatives:
- Macrium Reflect: http://www.macrium.com/ReflectFree.asp (highly recommended)
- DriveImage XML: http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm
- SelfImage: http://www.excelcia.org/modules.php?name=N...icle&sid=21
- Paragon Drive Backup: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/

Hi,I am new here.Acronis may be the best, but not free..however,if you have a Seagate or Maxtor HD,you can use Maxtor Maxblast from the Seagate site, and it is free. One can clone from or to a Seagate/Maxor drive. This hard drive installation software is also named for the Seagate drive, but I forget what the name is,but both are on the Seagate site.I have several clones of drives using this.

Thanks for the information Ben! I know I have both a Segate and a Maxor CD in my collection of Software CD's. I'll check them out to see what is on them. I think those came with drives in my older PC. The snow has actually been keeping me off my PC as I try to keep my driveway and roof clear so I have not had time to work on some of these mini projects. I am leaning towards Macrium as I have heard good things about that package in other searches.

Best Regards ~ Darryl
