NTLDR Boot problems

I accidentally deleted my NTLDR file to my recycle bin. I tried to re boot and got a NTLDR is missing message. I then put in my windows XP pro CD tried a console repair and tried to copy NTLDR and now it get a error message NTLDR is compressed.

Please help I can't afford to use my files they are not backed up.
I am running Windows XP professional SP3 my disk however has SP1

At least XP seems to now find it, it just doesn't like it!

Exactly how did you copy the deleted file?

I am not following what you have done exactly, but boot into the Recovery Console and uncompress the potentially compressed ntldr file:

cd \
attrib -c ntldr
exit

This will only be effective if you boot Recovery Console.
