I've never experienced this issue, but try these commands in a terminal:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo aptitude purge $(dpkg -l | awk '$1=="rc"{print $2}')

You may want to open up Synaptic and go to Edit > Fix Broken Packages

files list file for package `com.palm.net.precoder.fcoaster' contains empty filename

Try this: hit Alt + F2 and type gksudo nautilus. After that, navigate to /var/lib/dpkg/info. Hit Ctrl + H and try to find a .list file with no name (it should just show up as .list). Either rename it to com.palm.net.precoder.fcoaster.list or delete/move it. If you choose the latter, try fixing the broken packages again.

I'm editing the information I found here to come up with these solutions, by the way.

Either click the upward pointing arrow next to the forward arrow, click on the hard drive icon next to the pencil under the back arrow, or click on the pencil and type in " /var/lib/dpkg/info" in the address bar that appears.

Is there a file called "com.palm.net.precoder.fcoaster.list" there? If so, rename it to "com.palm.net.precoder.fcoaster.list.bak" and then issue this command:

sudo apt-get update

If that command succeeds, try to install something.

Make sure you mark your Ubuntu Forums post as solved and link it here in case someone else has the same problem.
