are roms illegal? i know that people make their own ROM type games, but i think those are legal, but what about the games that are for like nintendo 64? or or systems like that, are they illegal?

i have a ROM player, but i havent used it or gotten any games yet. i want to make sure i dont break any laws. thanks =)
Fix everything, if nothing is left to fix than break something.

They are completely illegal to download. In theory, it's legal to copy games from your own cartridges if you can manage to do so.
US copyright law permits one backup of a program or game you own, but it must come from your own cartridge/CD. It cannot come from anyone else's even if it's identical.
