Help I need help! Some kind of virus?

Ive gotten some kind of virus on my sony vaio. i'm running windows XP Not sure how it got on there because I have norton antivirus and keep it updated. I'm not sure where it came from either. My husband informed me of it this morning. I keep getting different alerts saying "windows security alert" Windows reports that computer is infected etc............... And another one saying application cannont be executed the file ipodservice.exe is infected. do you want to activate your antivirus softwar now? and another one saying Antivirus software alert infiltration alert. I can't open my Norton antivirus either. Actually no programs open. I unplugged the internet to my computer too so now I'm working from a laptop.. Please help me solve this problem.
