Hey,

I'm completely new to the boards. Hi all

My Problem:

I can't connect to sites like microsoft.com, avg.com and basically all other anti virus and anti malware sites I tried..
Windows update does not work and the pre-installed mcaffe suite cannot get registered via internet aswell.
Otherwise internet connection and availabilty of sites is fine.

I'm running the Acer AspireOne build:

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

I completely removed McAffe, because I didn't want to use it anyway.

I managed to install the free AVG. I couldnt update it but I runned it and I've put something in the virus vault:
"Infection";"Trojan horse Agent.ASLB";"C:\WINDOWS\system32\viqhlw.dll";"";"10/02/2010, 02:05:22"
"Infection";"Trojan horse Agent.ASLB";"C:\System Volume Information\_restore{9C0D637B-F48D-4388-8993-6EFF3C9ECF11}\RP6\A0002052.dll";"";"10/02/2010, 03:03:04"

I also ran Malwarebytes and it found 1 file:
Registry Data Items Infected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL\CheckedValue (Hijack.System.Hidden) -> Bad: (0) Good: (1) -> No action taken.

This might have something to do with a problem I encountered from the very beginning with this laptop.
Evertime I check the box "show hidden files" and press apply or ok it will be unchecked again when I open the Tools. I can't get hidden files to be visible the normal way. Should I remove that thing in Malwarebytes?

I had this problem with DNS Errors since I first connected to the internet.
I didn't install anything except FastStone Photo Resizer and just putted some files like music and pictures from mobile devices on that laptop.

Things I installed now are:
  • FastStone Photo Resizer
  • AVG Free 9.0
  • Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • Malwarebytes' Anti Malware
  • xp-AntiSpy - which I did not use yet

What else should I do now?

Thanks in advance! Cheers :flowers:
