Say you own a company with 1000 computers
You are not going to go out and but a Windows CD for each machine
You buy the license for each computer

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

The Coprate Edition is the same as Pro, but with optional support options. Cost for each depending on the # of licenses you buy.

look up volume licensing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume_license_key

I have the install media for an xp pro volume license but I rarely get a chance to use it since it is usually large corp customers. A few times cubical slaves have asked me to fix corporate laptops that are so hosed and malware buggered they are reluctant to turn them in to their IT dept. Sometimes I nuke and reload enough to cover their pr0n tracks... Other times I turn their butts in to my former coworkers in their IT dept.

VLK has been abused by asian pirates to such a point that several thousand VLK keys don't work anymore. This is one of the things the WGA programs endless updates check.
