All the icons on my desktop for websites have changed to icons that look like a globe. What happened and how do I change them/ I have deleted and recreated the shortcut, but the icon is still the globe.

You icon cache is corrupt. You need to purge it and rebuild it. Here is how :

1. Open an elevated command prompt window. To do so, Click Start Menu, type cmd in the search box. When you see cmd.exe, right click on it and select Run as administartor
2. Type the following in the elevated command prompt, pressing Enter after each line :
taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
attrib -h IconCache.db
del IconCache.db
start explorer.exe
