Hi guys. I got such great assistance with my wife's laptop last month now I humbly come back with an issue concerning my grandmother's computer. It is simply running crazy slow. I booted it into safe mode and it runs just fine. Almost no stutters...however when it boots normal it will take nearly 8 minutes to get to a point where you can move the mouse. Then you have to wait for the program to load. I have installed and updated spybot sd and it found a handful of problems, none appeared to be too nasty. I then ran MBAM and it came back clean. Skeptical I booted into safe mode w/networking and ran the eSet online scanner which also showed nothing.

Should I try running this again when it is booted into windows normally and see if it gives me anything different?

I have tried installing Avira but it simply disappears just as the progress bar hits 100 percent. I even tried installing AVG and it gets darn near to the end there as well and then terminates. Seems kinda fishy to me...

I appreciate any help you give me...this just ends up a tad outside my realm of expertise.

If it means anything, her live in son plays lots of internet games. I am thinking he may have snagged something there but everything looks fine on the outside. Lemme know what to do.

Thanks,

Mike

Not bumping my thread, just letting the moderator/admin know they can close or delete this thread or whatever it is they do. After two weeks without anyone dropping a line in response to my problem I've decided to try to find a solution at another site if possible. No sense keeping this thread bookmarked if it's just taking up server space.

Mike
