I have the following problem.

At start-up, a message window appears saying that an installation is started followed by a message window saying "Configuration Roxio Media Creator Home running" and the failure message:
“Roxio Media Creator Home
1. Failed to install ISKernel Files.
Make sure you have appropriate privileges on this machine.”

Closing the windows the attempt of installation starts again twice.

Using Task Manager I found that these windows are associated to the PDFCreator.exe process (not Roxio Media Creator).

If I uninstall PDFCreator this problem disappears, but it reappears again after re-installation of PDFCreator.

I have VISTA home premium Service Pack 2 and PDFCreator 0.9.5.

Both PDFCreator and Roxio Media Creator seem working correctly.

I appreciate any suggestion to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance,
Fabrizio

Why not download a Startup manager such as Codestuff Starter:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/Starter.html
Uncheck the boxes for both programs, you do not need either one at Startup
They will both still run when you want them to

garmanma,
thank you for your suggestion. It solved the problem at startup.
I unchecked PDFCreator in the startups tab of Start, but I couldn't find anything similar to Roxio Easy Media Creator. Your suggestion recalled me that I removed Roxio and PDFCreator from the startup a couple of weeks ago using Autoruns.

The problem now is that PDFCreator does not work, at least in many cases.

I tried to run the PDFCreator.exe as administrator (rigth click option), in this case, after a long period collecting information, a message appears asking to specify the folder of "Roxio Easy Media Creator Home.msi" which I don't have, since the application was preloaded in the PC.

I'm quite confused. Why PDFCreator wants to install "Roxio Easy Media Creator Home"? May be same malware is implied?

Thanks again,
Fabrizio

Roxio has always been problematic
I have not heard much good about it
I would uninstall PDFCreator and reinstall a new version:

garmanma,

as you suggested, I installed the updated version of PDFCreator(0.9.9). I also canceled manually any references to PDFCreator in the registry, at least those I found by a search, before the new installation.

PDFCreator continues to try to install Roxio Easy Media Creator, but after the failure message:
“Roxio Easy Media Creator Home
1. Failed to install ISKernel Files.
Make sure you have appropriate privileges on this machine.”

the pdf file is produced .

Even though this situation can be acceptable, since I use seldom PDFCreator, I still wonder why PDFCreator wants to install "Roxio Easy Media Creator Home".

Thanks for you help,
Fabrizio

There appears to be some controversy with PDFCreator and spyware
Specifically a toolbar
