i have recently recieved my friends pc to try and help remove a fake AV virus from his pc. it was not one that popped up a GUI but it did block alot of legit AV programs and internet.
I was able to boot into Safe Mode and run Avira and SuperAntiSpyware to what i thought was removing malware and trojans.
after restart it would come up with Bad Image warnings of missing or invalid DLL files Ie. C:\WINDOWS\system32\vizfxs.dll which is one of the warnings.
it will pop up different warnings for different program but the same or one other DLL will appear to be missing after using SAS and Avira.
After that i installed the Compaq HDD in my XP SP2 machine as a slave and ran Avira and SAS again with SAS saying clean and Avira having i think 31 or 32 warnings of files not able to be opened for scan. so now im here at a loss as to what to do and what to run. i have SAS, Avira, MBAM, Spybot S&D, and HJT on a backup disk if needed to run but i dont know where to begin or what to do with this PC now.
any help will be greatly appreciated and if i didnt explain something well enough please let me know.
Thank you in advance
