Hello I am in the process of reinstalling an audio driver on wife computer. Acer travelmate 2200. I have located driver on Acer web site and saved to flash drive. This driver was deleted by mistake. No CD.I have located where driver is suppose to be in device manager but not there. Yellow exclamation mark where driver is suppose to be.What is the difference between legecy and realtek when it comes to drivers.

I am a little confused by your description
I assume you mean that you do not have a CD drive?
You downloaded the driver to a thumb drive and it will not install?
A legacy driver is an out-of-date or an obsolete driver for older computers
The driver you need is the Realtek_5.10.0.5620_XPx86.zip:
http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Dr...cer&SC=PA_7

Why not download it straight to your wife's computer?

Thank you so much for your reply garmanma. Yes the cd drive is broke. I have the driver downloaded onto a flash drive and will transfer to her computer. This is something that I have never done.(installed driver that way) I guess what I am saying or asking is that I just follow steps and tell computer to look at that flash drive for folder to install the driver. And in the list, a little futher down) I did notice Legacy driver. It kinda through me.I could have save it desktop and installed it that way

1.You could tell it where to find the file.
2. You could simply open up the file on the flash drive and install.
3. Move or copy the file to the computer and install. I suggest putting on the desktop so you won't have to click all over the place to get to it.

I've been called many things but I don't think I have ever been called a jewel. Thank you.

So did you get the drivers installed and if you did which method did you use?
Most important, does your wife have sound on her computer?

 That computer is a whole nother story. It is in bad shape. I need about 12 hours on it.Lack of maintenace to say the least. It needs a good cleaning. With being an Acer I found you can actually roll back to when new with out disk. Just going through saving data will take a while. By the way War Eagle.

Auburn University-class of 1978.

Got the paper to prove it.
