Hi,

I had AVG 8.5 free edition on my PC. It expired and i tried to uninstall it. I couldnt. i had to use "AVG Remover". After finally getting rid of it, I downloaded Avira Antivirus and installed. Eversince my PC does not start. It gets to the part where i shows me the PC screen and re-boots automatically. I can start my PC only in the "last know good cofiguration " mode. I cannot start my PC even in the "Safe Mode".

Please HELP.......

Also after I have used the "AVG Remover" i get some message saying "grpconv' file cannot be found.

FYI - I have used a few registry cleaners in lieu of getting my problem fixed....

I have used a few registry cleaners in lieu of getting my problem fixed....

The above will only make things worse. Never use any registry tools.

I can start my PC only in the "last know good cofiguration " mode

...and what happens then?

You could try a repair install of XP...or the sfc /scannow command.

I would suggest a repair install, after your use of registry cleansers. I suspect that key files are missing/damaged.
