For some reason, my computer kept locking up after I dumped some temporary internet files. I tried reformatting, but it even freezes during that. And it keeps freezing at any given moment. I did a systems diagnostic but it said that there's nothing wrong. And worst of all, my warranty expired 2 years ago. Can you help?

Does it freeze while using any specific program or will it freeze even if no programs are opened by you (other than those opened by your start menu?

What operating system?

Start it in safe mode and let it run for awhile. Does it still freeze?

After running in safe mode for a time period you judge long enough to determine it isn't likely to freeze as it had done in regular mode previously, go to start/run/msconfig and disable one or two of the items on the startup list at a time, allow to start in regular mode and allow the computer to run for an adaquate amount of time for it to freeze.

Repeat this process reenabling the one or two programs you unchecked previously and disabling a couple more. Repeat until you find the offender.

Then come back here, tell us what you found and let's figure out what to do with it.
