Well hi all im new,

basically my other com is busted (im using my spare com now), and the obvious problems are that the networking doesnt seem to work, ie unable to access the computer via this one, and netscape is unable to connect. another thing i noticed is that when i try to download virus scans to my removable disk and run it on the busted com, it is also unable to detect the flash drive.

Lastly, i experience a slow bootup and the error "Common Client Registry Integrity Verifier" pops up after loading the desktop. what do you suggest i do?

really lost, need help! <:/

You are infected with adware &/or malware that is preventing you from doing any cleaning, and blocking your connection.

Do you have a CD Burner?
Burn these programs and run them, you will not be able to update them untill we get your connection back.
When we get you cleaned and back online you will need to post a HJT Log to make sure you are completely clean.

See this article:

Burn these & run them. Don't worry about updating until later.

Here's another thread on this bulletin board that addresses the same question:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/det...ing-t15858.html

"* "CcRegVfy" must run at start up. Part of Norton AntiVirus 2003. "ccRegVfy.exe is responsible for checking the integrity of the NAV registry entries to make sure that the information has not been changed by a malicious threat or a hack"

Important: Some malware can camouflage themselves as ccRegVfy.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the ccRegVfy.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. We recommend Security Task Manager for verifying your computer's security. "
